HPE Juniper Networking Steel-Belted Radius High Availability Server
SBR Series Software
Steel-Belted Radius High Availability Server Overview:
The Steel-Belted Radius High Availability Server enables service providers to deploy a common subscriber session state database that can be used by all SBR High Availability servers.
The Steel-Belted Radius High Availability Server is a stateless high-availability AAA server that allows certain aspects of SBR Series operation to be performed without maintaining a state in the SBR Series server.
Features & Benefits:
The Steel-Belted Radius High Availability Server offers:
- "Five-nines" availability: Fault-tolerant architecture uses a distributed node architecture with fast failover and no single point of failure.
- Scalability: The RADIUS infrastructure can scale incrementally to meet current and future performance, reliability, and throughput requirements.
- Performance: The SBR HA database cluster keeps all data in memory and limits I/O bottlenecks, thereby managing tens of thousands of distributed transactions per second.
- Increased manageability and reduced operating expenses: A unified RADIUS management domain offers a complete virtual environment, reducing complexity and lowering operation expense.
System Requirements:
Hardware
- Sun UltraSPARC workstation
Operating system
- Solaris 8 or 9 Refer to the ReleaseNotes.txt file for information on Solaris patches required by Steel-Belted Radius.
- Desktop manager Solaris 8:
- CDE-dtwm
- OpenWin-olwm
- Solaris 9:
- Gnome2-metacity
- CD-dtwm
Memory
- 256 megabytes of working memory
(512 megabytes for servers with more than 10,000 RADIUS users.)
Disk space
- Installing the SBR Series server software requires at least 234 megabytes of local (not NFS) disk space.
Hard disk space requirements depend on the system's product configuration.
Networking
- TCP/IP must be configured.
Perl Support
- Perl (version 5.8.3 or later)
Database (optional)
- The Solaris version of Steel-Belted Radius supports any SQL database server that is Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) compliant for RADIUS authentication and accounting. Although Oracle versions 8.0.0 and 9.0.0 are supported, versions 8.1.7 and 9.2.0 are recommended.
