EX2200-48T-4G Overview:

The Juniper Networks EX2200 Line of fixed-configuration Ethernet switches offers an economical solution for access-layer deployments in enterprise branch offices and campus networks.

Featuring Layer and Layer 3 switching capabilities, the Juniper Networks EX2200 Ethernet Switches satisfy the access connectivity requirements of today's high-performance business. Four platform configurations are available offering 24 and 48 10/100/1000BASE-T ports, with and without Power over Ethernet (PoE). The 24- and 48-port PoE EX2200 switches support 802.3af standards-based PoE on every port supporting networked devices such as telephones, video cameras, and wireless LAN (WLAN) access points in converged networks.

Additional features include:

  • Four front-panel small form-factor pluggable transceiver (SFP) Gigabit Ethernet uplink ports with pluggable optics provide high-speed connectivity to aggregation layer switches or other upstream devices.
     
  • Fixed, low-consumption power supply and fans ensure operational simplicity.
     
  • Integrates with Juniper Networks Unified Access Control (UAC) to provide per-user access control and policing.
     
  • Support for Layer 2 protocols as well as RIP and static routing in base license.
     
  • Optional enhanced license for supporting OSPF and PIM.
     
  • Single release train for Juniper Networks JUNOS Software ensures consistent control plane feature implementation.
     
  • Modular JUNOS Software prevents a switch reboot if a single protocol feature fails.

JUNOS Software Operating System:

The EX2200 runs the same JUNOS Software used by all Juniper Networks EX Series Ethernet Switches, as well as all Juniper Networks routers and Juniper Networks SRX Series Services Gateways. By utilizing a common operating system, Juniper Networks delivers a consistent implementation and operation of control-plane features across all products. To maintain that consistency, JUNOS Software adheres to a highly disciplined development process that uses a single source code, follows a single quarterly release train, and employs a highly available modular architecture that prevents isolated failures from bringing an entire system down.

These attributes are fundamental to the core value of the software, enabling all JUNOS-powered products to be updated simultaneously with the same software release. All features are fully regression-tested, making each new release a true superset of the previous version; customers can deploy the software with complete confidence that all existing capabilities with be maintained and operate in the same way.
